The Lingering Uneasiness You Can't Shake Off

What’s that lingering uneasiness you can’t get rid of?
What’s that lingering uneasiness you can’t get rid of?

It doesn’t matter if you’re a CEO, a barista, or someone who still can’t fold a fitted sheet properly (no judgment😆). Pain doesn’t care about titles-it just tags along for the ride.

We move through our days-work, school, family, endless "update your password" requests-while underneath, there's this weird, uneasy feeling we can't always explain.

Maybe you find yourself getting weirdly furious because someone left one dish in the sink.  Maybe you avoid certain people but can't put your finger on why-you just feel it in your gut (or your bones, your right thigh, or your left eyebrow... wherever your intuition hangs out).

Maybe you’re fighting battles that aren’t even yours... or letting people dominate you just because “it’s easier.”

If any of that sounds familiar, here’s the truth-You’re not broken. You’re not crazy. You’re human. Welcome to the club.

Chances are, you’re carrying some unconscious or unresolved trauma-stuff your mind tucked away to keep you safe.  Or it could even be something passed down through your family, like heirloom dishes or that mannerism you inherited from your grandfather... but, you know, emotional. (Generational trauma is a whole topic in itself-we'll save that for another time.)

The good news!  You don’t have to stay stuck.  And healing doesn’t have to look like moving to a mountaintop to meditate with goats. (Unless you're into that. Then, by all means go for it!

Healing can start small, with things like:

  • Taking a few deep breaths when you’re feeling that uneasy sensation.

  • Writing down your thoughts without trying to "fix" them. Just let them be weird.

  • Talking to someone who knows what they’re doing-like a mental health counselor, or even a trusted support group.

  • Being ridiculously kind to yourself on the days when you feel like a human turmoil.

  • Moving your body-stretching, walking, dancing badly in your kitchen-whatever gets the energy moving.

You deserve to feel good in your own skin!  You deserve peace-not just “I made it through today” kind of peace, but real, deep peace!. And it all starts by being curious instead of judgmental toward yourself. (Not everything inside you is trying to ruin your day, I promise!)

There’s zero shame in asking for help.  Actually, it’s one of the most badass, courageous things you can do. You’re not alone. And healing? It's absolutely possible-one tiny, messy, step at a time.
